High School Preparation
Supporting students to make a confident transition to high school
Starting high school is an exciting milestone but it can also bring new academic expectations and challenges.
Our Getting Ready for High School program is designed specifically for Year 6 students preparing to transition to high school the following year. Delivered during Term 4, the program helps students develop the confidence, skills and knowledge needed to feel prepared for the next stage of their educational journey.
Students can enrol in our English and/or Maths preparation groups which focus on introducing key concepts and skills commonly encountered during the early years of high school.
In English, students are introduced to skills such as identifying and analysing language devices, interpreting texts and developing early essay writing techniques.
In Maths, students explore a range of high school concepts including algebra, angles, statistics, measurement and other topics that many students encounter for the first time when they begin secondary school.
Alongside these academic skills, students are also supported to develop organisation, independence, study habits and confidence to help make the transition to high school as smooth as possible.
Places are limited and priority is often given to current Flying Colours students. Families who are not currently enrolled are welcome to register their interest and will be contacted if places become available.
